There is a bit of roughness and one tiny chip around the

gouache and graphite on paper I believe

echoing the cut paper border and setting it off to perfection

Pair of Small, Whittled Whimsy Chains with Nice Age mends and who knows how manyI found this little pair of carved chain links together in Vermont, and while I don't always jump on carved whimsy chains these days, I think these are very nice ones, in which one very much feels the hand of the carver, whittling carefully away. The same hand (knife) made both, I believe, and I like them together, with the contrast between two different lengths of links making them feel specific and particular. Pretty easy to imagine the carver
